What kind of wood is it?
Local premium hardwoods such as oak, cherry, maple, ash and locust.
What's the difference between a full cord and a 1/3 cord?
A full cord is the standard legal measure of firewood: a stack 4 feet high, 4 feet deep and 8 feet long, or 128 cubic feet. A 1/3 cord is one-third of that: a single row 4 feet tall, 8 feet long and 16 inches deep (4 ft × 8 ft × 16 in), about 42.7 cubic feet. When comparing prices, always compare by cubic feet.
Our seasoned wood is cut to 16 inches. Fresh split (green) wood can be custom ordered in other lengths for an additional charge; call for pricing.
What's the difference between seasoned, kiln-dried, and fresh split?
Seasoned: air dried for one year and ready to burn. Well-seasoned wood lights more easily, burns hotter and produces less smoke and creosote than green wood.
Kiln-dried: kiln-dried, stored indoors.
Fresh split: green wood that has just been split. It needs to season before you burn it, so it's best if you're buying for next season and have space to stack and dry it. Custom lengths are available for an additional charge; call for pricing.
Do you offer stacking?
Yes. Stacking a 1/3 cord is $50. Stacking a full cord starts at $100 per cord, plus $50 per hour after the first hour.
Why the hourly part? Some stacking has to be done by wheelbarrow to hard-to-reach parts of a home, which takes longer. Let us know where you'd like it stacked when you order.
How do I pay?
We accept cash, check, Venmo, PayPal, and card (through the Square app).
Can I pick up the wood myself?
No, we're delivery only, and delivery within 15 miles is included.
Do I get a receipt?
Yes. Every delivery comes with a receipt.
Can I take the wood to camp or another town?
In New York, untreated firewood may not be moved more than 50 miles from its source. Keep your receipt. See the NY DEC firewood rules for details.
